Dining Near Notre-Dame Cathedral
Food and drinks are not allowed inside Notre-Dame Cathedral. However, the surrounding area offers some of Paris's best dining options, from casual cafés to fine restaurants.
Île de la Cité
The island itself has several charming cafés along the quays and near the Sainte-Chapelle. These are perfect for a quick coffee or light meal before or after your visit.
Latin Quarter (Left Bank)
Just across the Petit Pont on the Left Bank, the Latin Quarter is packed with restaurants, bistros and crêperies. Rue de la Huchette is famous for its lively restaurant scene, though locals often recommend the side streets for more authentic options. Shakespeare and Company Café, next to the famous bookshop, offers excellent coffee and pastries with views toward Notre-Dame.
ÃŽle Saint-Louis
A short walk east across the bridge, ÃŽle Saint-Louis is home to Berthillon, widely considered to serve the best ice cream in Paris. The island also has delightful tea rooms, bakeries and small restaurants along Rue Saint-Louis en l'ÃŽle.
Right Bank (Marais)
Cross the Pont d'Arcole to the Right Bank and you are in the Marais, one of Paris's trendiest dining districts. Falafel shops on Rue des Rosiers, elegant bistros, and modern cafés are all within a 10-minute walk.
